Notes from promoters and venue teams after funnel audits, hold reviews, and launch checks.
After the Ticket Funnel Audit we finally saw that guest checkout on Android was failing when buyers switched networks in the queue. The briefing was blunt about our promo codes too — half of them were stacking in ways nobody on the marketing desk intended.
The Seat Hold review showed our VIP block was releasing ten minutes after general admission opened, which made the map look barren for ordinary buyers. We shortened that window. Sales felt fairer, even if VIP partners grumbled for a week.
Launch Readiness caught a capacity mismatch between the app and the fire certificate two weeks out. Awkward conversation with the landlord, but better than refunding a sold-out night.
The retention study confirmed what membership suspected: early-bird emails helped, but the in-app renewal screen still buried the seat-upgrade option. Progress is uneven — renewals ticked up, yet corporate packs remain sticky for another season.
Extended note: Merdeka weekend on-sale
A Penang promoter brought us exports from three prior national-holiday weekends. The Ticket Funnel Audit showed consistent abandonment on the seat-map zoom control for balcony sections. Buyers who completed purchase had mostly used the list view instead.
Before the next Merdeka block they defaulted mobile buyers to list view for those sections and kept the map as an option. Completion for balcony inventory improved enough that they held price instead of discounting mid-cycle. Payment retries stayed noisy — that work sits with their gateway vendor, which we flagged but did not own.
Extended note: season renewals at an arts house
Mei Lin’s Season Pass Retention Study compared first-year and second-year pass holders across two seasons. The strongest signal was not discount depth but whether the renewal screen showed remaining reserved-seat continuity. Copy that emphasised “keep your row” outperformed generic loyalty language in the same cohort window.
The house still loses some corporate packs to competing venues; the study did not pretend otherwise. It did give membership a clear brief for the next renewal campaign inside the ticketing app.
